Kazakhstani young weightlifter Nurzhan Zhumabay achieved a magnificent success at the World Championship.
Modern.az reports that the 15-year-old athlete representing Almaty region became the world champion in the 88 kg weight category at the World Championship among juniors held in Colombia, and also set a new world record in the clean and jerk.
Nurzhan Zhumabay showed a total result of 348 kilograms (155 kg snatch + 193 kg clean and jerk) at the end of the competition, leaving behind his rivals from Spain and Mexico.
This was the young weightlifter's first world championship in his career. In addition to winning a gold medal in his debut competition, he also achieved great success by breaking the world record.
