A bill providing for the imposition of harsh sanctions against Russia in the United States has been agreed with the White House and may be adopted in the near future.
Modern.az reports that this was stated by US Senator Lindsey Graham.
According to him, the bill will give President Donald Trump the authority to impose tariffs and sanctions against countries that finance the Kremlin's activities by buying cheap oil from Russia.
The senator noted that the document will also allow the imposition of restrictions against countries that buy natural gas from Russia, as well as the top five countries that buy cheap Russian oil and resell it for profit, avoiding sanctions:
“Half an hour ago, we reached an agreement with the White House on a version of the bill that will be supported. This means that the document will become law.”
According to him, after returning to Washington, he will meet with Republican and Democratic leaders to advance the bill in Congress.
Lindsey Graham added that the US may also take additional steps in the technological field to strengthen Ukraine's defense against ballistic missile attacks.
