"Russian troops tried to launch a large-scale offensive, but failed to achieve any of their goals. Russia had almost a 2-1 advantage in terms of personnel and equipment."
Modern.az reports that these remarks were made by Oleksandr Syrskyi, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, on Friday, July 10, while summarizing the results of the first half of 2026.
"Previously, the Russian army conducted active offensive operations in 13 operational sectors, but now there are a maximum of 6 or 7 such sectors left," he emphasized.
Syrskyi stated that Ukrainian fighters continue defensive operations, and in some sectors, they are conducting active operations and maintaining the operational initiative.
According to the commander, the ratio of offensive operations between Ukrainian and Russian troops is currently approximately 40-60.
"It is precisely thanks to the active actions of the Defense Forces in the first half of 2026 that the speed of advancement of Russian troops has been reduced by more than half," Syrskyi said.
He also noted that the average monthly loss of killed and wounded Russian soldiers is approximately 32,000 people. Syrskyi emphasized that the Ukrainian armed forces are implementing a strategy of attrition against the Russian army. According to him, the pace of advancement of both sides has practically approached equality.
