More than 130 people have drowned in France in the last three weeks amid the ongoing extreme heatwave.
Modern.az reports with reference to TASS that the country's Minister of Sports Marina Ferrari informed about this.
The minister said that 131 drowning incidents have been recorded in the country since June 19. According to her, the victims of the unfortunate incidents are mainly teenagers under 18 and people over 60.
According to statistics, 55% of those who died were those who entered prohibited areas for swimming. Another 20% of cases occurred in private pools located on private properties.
It should be noted that anomalous heat has been observed in France since mid-June, and many temperature records have been updated.
