The leadership of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) has expanded the scope of the state of emergency declared in connection with the spread of the Ebola virus.

Chopo and Upper Uele provinces have been officially added to the list of regions suffering from the Ebola virus. The country's health minister, Roje Kamba, announced that two cases of infection have been confirmed in each of the new provinces.
A more acute stage of the epidemic is observed in Ituri and North Kivu provinces. These regions, where the virus is most widespread, have been taken under special control by sanitation services.
Overall statistics are quite alarming: since the outbreak of the disease, nearly 1,800 cases of infection have been recorded, and the number of deaths has reached 625. The World Health Organization (WHO) has declared the regional risk to be high.
