Russian President's press secretary Dmitry Peskov said that the issue of S-400 anti-aircraft missile systems sold by Moscow to Turkey is "extremely sensitive".

Modern.az reports that Peskov commented on the information published in "Hürriyet" newspaper that Turkey could resell these systems to one of the Persian Gulf countries.

Peskov said that there have been contacts between Russia and Turkey on this issue and the dialogue will continue.

"This topic belongs to an extremely sensitive area. We have had contacts with the Turkish side on this issue and we will continue these contacts," the Kremlin spokesman said.

This week, during the NATO summit, US President Donald Trump announced that Washington would lift the sanctions it imposed on Turkey for purchasing Russian S-400 systems.

It should be recalled that Turkey purchased four divisions of S-400 complexes from Russia in 2017 for 2.5 billion dollars. Although the US demanded Ankara to abandon these systems and buy "Patriot" air defense systems instead, Turkey did not accept it. After that, Washington removed Ankara from the F-35 fighter production and supply program.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan had previously stated that the country purchased S-400 systems due to the possible threat of attack from the direction of Syria.

In August 2024, "Cumhuriyet" newspaper wrote that Ankara plans to buy F-35 fighters from the US, and in return, it could commit not to use S-400 systems purchased from Russia.

At the end of June, "Euractiv" publication claimed that Turkey could sell S-400 systems to South Korea instead of returning them to Russia.
