The amount of wealth concentrated in the hands of the richest層 in the US has reached a historical maximum.
Modern.az reports that, according to research, the richest 0.00001 percent of the country currently controls approximately 12 percent of the US national income.
According to experts' calculations, this indicator refers to the richest 3-4 thousand people of the US population. In other words, this super-rich group, which accounts for only 1 person per 10 million people in the country, obtains close to one-eighth of the national income.
National income refers to the total wages, business profits, and investment income generated in the economy.
According to the information, after the 2008 global financial crisis, the share of this group in the national income increased by more than 4 times. However, between 1950 and 1990, this indicator never exceeded 1 percent.
Experts attribute this rapid increase in wealth mainly to the record appreciation of stocks in the stock market and the rise in real estate prices.
The study emphasizes that those who benefited most from this process were individuals who owned assets – stocks, large companies, and real estate. Citizens who did not own assets could not achieve income growth at the same pace.
