US special services secretly removed President Donald Trump from his main plane in Ankara and transferred him to another plane due to a possible Iranian assassination threat.
Modern.az reports that “The Washington Post” published this information, citing an American official.
According to the newspaper, Trump boarded the old “Air Force One” plane in Ankara in front of television cameras. However, a few minutes later, he was transferred to a smaller C-32A plane belonging to the US Air Force via a truck used to deliver food and other supplies to planes at the airport.
It is reported that this step was taken due to information about a possible assassination threat from Iran.
“The New York Times” reported on July 25, citing its sources, that the US leader had to switch from the “Boeing 747-8” plane gifted by Qatar to the old “Air Force One” when returning from the NATO summit. The reason for this was the information obtained by the US Secret Service about a possible assassination attempt being prepared by pro-Iranian groups.
According to “The Washington Post”, US special services carried out the operation secretly from journalists. Media representatives flying on the president's main plane thought he was on that plane.
Meanwhile, Trump flew with Pentagon chief Pit Hegset on a C-32A plane with its transponders turned off. The plane used an inconspicuous military call sign called “Reach 18”.
After Trump arrived at Mildenhall Air Base in the UK, he was transferred back to the main plane. Then he appeared before journalists from the external ramp of the plane, creating the impression that he had been on “Air Force One” the entire time.
During the flight to Washington, the US president hinted at a possible threat from Tehran in a conversation with journalists. However, he did not disclose the secret operation itself.
