Approximately 150 businessmen from Turkey traveled to Yerevan, the capital of Armenia, to participate in an Armenian-Turkish business forum.
Modern.az reports, citing the Armenian publication "Hraparak", that the hotel, food, and sightseeing expenses of the business representatives from Turkey in Yerevan are covered by a grant from the European Union.
According to the publication, the expenses of entrepreneurs from the regions of Armenia participating in the forum are not intended to be covered within the framework of this financing.
Eduard Kirakosyan, executive director of the Union of Manufacturers and Businessmen of Armenia, confirmed that entrepreneurs from Turkey have arrived in Yerevan. According to him, the delegation includes businessmen from both the eastern and western regions of Turkey.
The forum is being held in Yerevan on September 3-4 and aims to expand relations between Armenian-Turkish business circles. The event was organized within the framework of the EU-funded program "Support for the Normalization of Armenia-Turkey Relations: Strengthening Cross-Border Connections".
It is reported that approximately 200 Armenian and Turkish entrepreneurs participated in the forum, discussing cooperation opportunities in areas such as IT, tourism, construction, food production, and transport.
The interesting point is that the event is being held at a time when diplomatic relations and the border between Armenia and Turkey have not yet been fully opened. The creation of such platforms with EU financial support to develop economic ties between Yerevan and Ankara also demonstrates Brussels' interest in forming new economic and transport links in the region.
