Armenian wrestlers will participate in the U-17 World Wrestling Championship to be held in Baku. The Armenian national team will participate in the U-17 World Championship to be held in Baku from July 27 to August 2.
Answering Modern.az's questions on the topic, Sarxan Musayev, press secretary of the Azerbaijan Wrestling Federation, stated that the participation of the Armenian team was confirmed at the last minute.
"In fact, their participation was confirmed at the last minute. There is a general system, and participating countries register through that system. Of course, registration is open to all countries there, and no state is restricted. Armenia has also completed its registration as a full member of the United World Wrestling," he noted.
According to S. Musayev, the security of the Armenian delegation, like all countries participating in international competitions, will be ensured by the state:
"Every country is guaranteed security, including Armenia. They will also use their rights to participate in the competition held in Azerbaijan."
The federation official emphasized that this is not the first time Armenian athletes have come to Baku.
"They have participated in competitions held in Azerbaijan before. Armenian athletes participated in the World Championship among adults held in Baku in 2007, as well as in the I European Games held in 2015. No incidents occurred during those competitions. This time, too, security measures will be ensured by the state at the highest level," added Sarxan Musayev.
It should be noted that the U-17 World Wrestling Championship will be held in Baku from July 27 to August 2.
