"The area where the B-5 station will be located has been seriously analyzed from a geological point of view."
Modern.az reports that Vusal Aslanov, chairman of "Baku Metro" CJSC, said this in an interview with Trend International News Agency and "Azad Azerbaijan" Independent Television and Radio Company. He stated that the B-5 station is the next station of the Purple Line:
"The Purple Line has great potential - infrastructure has been built for the movement of 7-car trains and it is directed from the northern part, where most passengers enter the city, to the center. This area was chosen to ensure inter-line changes around "Nizami". As for the construction issue, yes, the geology of the area is complex, the caisson method applied in the 60s and 70s no longer exists, I would even say that it is now forbidden. Modern construction techniques have developed a lot. The area where the station is located has been seriously analyzed - the station and tunnel will be placed below the groundwater level. In world practice, there are tunnels passing under rivers and straits: there is no difficulty in modern construction technology."
