In 2025, 15,144 people were registered with a newly diagnosed malignant neoplasm for the first time.
This information was provided by the State Statistical Committee in response to an inquiry from Modern.az.
According to the information, out of the newly diagnosed patients, 6,787 were men and 8,357 were women.
The number of newly registered patients by individual localizations was 237 for oral cavity and pharynx cancer, 21 for lip cancer, 463 for esophageal cancer, and 1,392 for stomach cancer.
In addition, 832 people were registered for the first time with malignant neoplasms of the rectum, rectosigmoid junction, and anus, 199 for laryngeal cancer, 1,480 for trachea, bronchus, and lung cancer, 2,928 for breast cancer, and 47 for melanoma of the skin.
These indicators show that an average of 41 people are diagnosed with cancer every day.
According to information from the Committee, the total number of patients with malignant neoplasms registered in medical institutions in 2025 was 74,004 people.
Of the registered patients, 28,026 were men and 45,978 were women.
By age groups, 952 of the registered patients were in the 0-17 age group, 1,603 in the 18-29 age group, 5,797 in the 30-39 age group, 32,452 in the 40-59 age group, and 33,200 in the 60 and above age group.
