Last month, information was received about food poisoning at secondary school No. 121 located in Bina settlement, Khazar district, Baku.
According to information provided to Modern.az by AQTA, relevant investigations were launched by the Agency's employees based on the appeal.
It was stated that inspections were carried out in the school's buffet and the supplying enterprise, and food samples were subjected to laboratory examinations. According to preliminary information, symptoms of food poisoning were observed in 7 students who consumed pastry purchased from the buffet. The students admitted to Infectious Children's Hospital No. 5 were diagnosed with "unspecified bacterial food poisoning" and were discharged home for outpatient treatment after receiving necessary medical care.
During the inspection, it was determined that the school's buffet was operating without proper registration, there were no documents confirming the origin of the products used, and the storage conditions did not meet sanitary and hygienic requirements.
At the same time, an unscheduled inspection was carried out at the "Ləzzət" flour-confectionery products production enterprise located in Mardakan settlement, Khazar district, Baku. During the inspection, serious violations of sanitary and hygienic norms were discovered at the enterprise.
As a result of laboratory examination of the collected food and swab samples, inconsistencies (e.coli, enterobacteria, and staphylococcus) were found.
Based on the identified deficiencies, the activities of the school's buffet and the supplying enterprise were temporarily suspended. Administrative measures were taken against the school director and entrepreneurs, and relevant protocols were drawn up. The materials collected regarding the fact were sent to law enforcement agencies for appropriate action.
