Ibrahim Huseynov, who was a member of the Bar Association in 2022-2025, has been arrested.
Modern.az reports that the 38-year-old former lawyer has been brought to justice under Article 178.2.4 (fraud causing significant damage) of the Criminal Code.
By the verdict of the Binagadi District Court, he was sentenced to 2 years in prison.
Investigations have revealed that Ibrahim Huseynov received 44,000 manats from the family members of a citizen arrested in 2024 in exchange for the release of that person. However, I. Huseynov did not fulfill his promise. He was unable to secure the release of a person named F. Shahbazov, who was arrested on drug charges. Following this, the family members of that person contacted the police. During the investigation, although Ibrahim Huseynov returned 18,000 manats of the money he received, he did not return the larger portion.
It should be noted that I. Huseynov worked as a lawyer for the “Güvən” law office. The Press Service of the Bar Association informed our website that that person was expelled from the membership of the Association by the decision of the Presidium dated 25.11.2025.("Qafqazinfo")
