The leaders of three Jewish communities in Azerbaijan appealed to the deputies of the Israeli parliament (Knesset) to not support the initiative to recognize the alleged "Armenian genocide".

Modern.az reports that the appeal was signed by Milikh Yevdayev, chairman of the Baku Mountain Jews Community, Alexander Sharovsky, head of the Baku Ashkenazi Jews Community, and Gennady Isayev, head of the Baku Sephardic Jews Community.

The appeal states that the recognition of the alleged "Armenian genocide" could negatively affect the peace and stability process that is just beginning to form in the South Caucasus.

The document emphasizes that complex and sensitive historical events should be the subject of scientific research by historians and experts, not political decisions.

According to the authors of the appeal, the politicization of such issues can create unjustified tension among Israel's sincere friends and harm the atmosphere of trust in the region.
