Relations between Armenia and Russia cannot remain in the previous format.
Modern.az reports that Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said this on the air of “Bun TV” internet television.
According to Pashinyan, the new situation in the region necessitates the transformation of Yerevan-Moscow relations.
“As long as the atmosphere of peace is maintained in Armenia, Armenia-Russia relations cannot remain as before. Because Armenia-Russia relations in a conflict situation are one thing, and in a peaceful situation, they are completely different,” the Prime Minister said.
Pashinyan also did not rule out that there might be certain forces in Moscow who want to see cooperation with Armenia only in the previous format, which is favorable for Russia.
The head of the Armenian government also touched upon his upcoming visit to Russia. According to him, the agenda of the talks will include topical issues related to Armenia-Russia relations, including the development of railway infrastructure and ways to solve existing problems.
It should be noted that Pashinyan had previously stated that Armenia-Russia relations are being transformed against the background of changes in the region. At his meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin on September 1, he emphasized that Yerevan is interested in developing and deepening relations with Moscow, but the situation in the region has changed.
