Iran's national air carrier "Iran Air" announced that flights to Istanbul, Baku and Najaf continue as planned.
Modern.az reports that the airline informed "Tasnim" news agency about this.
The company noted that no official instructions or directives have been received from the civil aviation authorities of Turkey, the Republic of Azerbaijan and Iraq regarding the suspension or cancellation of flights to Istanbul, Baku and Najaf.
"Based on the current situation and until any official notification is received, the flight schedule for these destinations will continue as before," the airline's statement said.
It should be noted that US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent stated that the operations of Iranian airlines worldwide are expected to be virtually suspended from September 23. Bessent warned that foreign companies providing fuel, landing services, or selling airline tickets to Iranian airlines could be excluded from the US dollar financial system.
It should be recalled that on September 8, the US Treasury Department imposed sanctions against 36 entities related to Iran's aviation sector. The sanctions covered Iranian airlines that had not previously been sanctioned as part of Washington's broader sanctions campaign against Iran.
