Baku Energy Week, considered the most authoritative strategic platform in the Caspian region, has become an influential international brand bringing together global energy leaders and leading corporations. This large-scale event, which is in the special focus of heads of state, plays a decisive role in guiding the global energy dialogue and establishing new partnership formats.

Modern.az reminds that within the framework of Baku Energy Week, which opened its doors again today, important platforms such as "Caspian Oil and Gas", "Caspian Power" exhibitions and Baku Energy Forum have started their work. The event focuses on both the future of traditional hydrocarbon projects and the most urgent challenge of the era, the global "green transition" and renewable energy technologies. The participation of official delegations and investors from various countries of the world once again confirms Azerbaijan's strategic position as a guarantor of global energy security. This platform, which will last for three days, is the main think tank where the new energy map and digital innovations of not only the region, but also Eurasia as a whole are discussed.

In this context, when we look at the geopolitical and economic landscape of the last 30 years, the path of development taken by the Republic of Azerbaijan acts as a unique success story and an exemplary model in the modern international relations system. For countries suffering from the same regional, territorial and economic problems, especially conflicts and the difficulties of the post-Soviet transition period, Azerbaijan's experience is a clear proof of how a state can properly manage its internal and external resources.

Azerbaijan, which overturned the phenomenon of "resource curse" often encountered in the world economy, demonstrated that when natural resources are used correctly, farsightedly and strategically, they can open the way to great advantages for the country. The successes achieved by the country in the social, economic, military and foreign policy spheres are the result of the transformation of these resources into human capital and state power. Transparent management of hydrocarbon revenues created a fundamental basis for the modernization of the army, the increase of social welfare and the formation of an independent foreign policy.

Azerbaijan's energy potential is not limited to existing achievements, but also dynamically diversifies towards the future. Currently, the "Azeri-Chirag-Deepwater Gunashli" (Deep Gas) project, which opens a new page in the country's energy sector, is of strategic importance in terms of additional gas production. Calculations show that Azerbaijan's existing rich gas reserves are competitive enough to fully meet both domestic demand and ensure the energy security of our international partners for at least the next 100 years.
However, despite having rich oil and gas resources, Azerbaijan demonstrates special commitment to global climate challenges and the "green transition" strategy. Our country's large-scale investments in renewable energy sources (RES) are a clear example of this far-sighted policy.

According to the defined roadmap: it is aimed to increase our total production capacity for solar and wind energy to 2 gigawatts by the end of 2027, and to 8 gigawatts by the end of 2032 through diversified projects.

These figures are the main pillars of Azerbaijan's strategy to export natural gas and switch to green energy in domestic consumption.

Azerbaijan's contributions to global energy security are highly appreciated in the international arena in the example of mega projects such as the Trans-Anatolian (TANAP) and Trans-Adriatic (TAP) gas pipelines. As a result of the successful operation of the Southern Gas Corridor, Azerbaijani gas is currently exported to 16 countries, and this geography continues to expand year by year.

At the same time, our country is not only a source country, but also an important global logistics hub. The rich transit opportunities offered by Azerbaijan for Central Asian countries located on the eastern shores of the Caspian Sea have become an indispensable "East-West" corridor for the safe transportation of regional trade and energy resources to Western markets.

As a result, thanks to the wise domestic and foreign policy implemented in the last 30 years, Azerbaijan has transformed from a regional power into one of the main guarantors of global energy security, fully ensured its economic independence and laid the foundations of the green and digital economy of the next century.
