The total number of people diagnosed with a disease for the first time in Azerbaijan in 2025 was 2 million 516 thousand 677 people.
This information was provided in response to an inquiry sent by Modern.az to the State Statistical Committee.
According to statistics, the number of people diagnosed with a disease for the first time in 2024 was 2 million 870 thousand people. The decrease of this indicator to 2 million 516 thousand 677 people in 2025 indicates a 12.3 percent decrease in the total number of illnesses.
In 2025, respiratory diseases were recorded the most. During the year, 841 thousand 789 people were diagnosed for the first time in this category.
The most frequently recorded disease categories are listed as follows:
One of the notable points in the statistics is related to diseases of the nervous system. While 89,370 cases were recorded in this category in 2024, the indicator increased to 105,758 in 2025.
Thus, the number of newly recorded diagnoses for nervous system diseases increased by 16,388 people within one year.
One of the least recorded disease categories in 2025 was congenital anomalies.
Overall, data from the State Statistical Committee show that the number of patients diagnosed for the first time in 2025 decreased compared to 2024. However, an increase was observed in individual disease groups.
