Representatives of Azerbaijani civil society have strongly condemned Armenia's reaction to the recent visit of the diplomatic corps accredited in Azerbaijan to the liberated Karabakh and Eastern Zangezur.
According to Modern.az, this was stated in a statement issued by representatives of Azerbaijani civil society.
The statement noted that the reaction of various circles in Armenia regarding the visit is essentially an attempt against Azerbaijan's sovereignty and territorial integrity, interference in Azerbaijan's internal affairs, and a clear attempt at irredentism.
"These behaviors, managed from a single center in Armenia, are a serious blow to the Azerbaijan-Armenia peace agenda and a clear provocation aimed at disrupting the ongoing normalization process between the two countries. It has become clear that the Armenian people are not ready for peace. The 'Real Armenia' narrative is failing," the statement emphasized.
The importance of ending the policy of denying the history, culture, including the rich heritage of Caucasian Albania, of the Azerbaijani people was noted.
The statement also criticized the Armenian Prime Minister's reference to the opinion of the Matenadaran institute to "prove" the Armenian origin of the Gandzasar monastery:
"It's strange, who gave the Matenadaran institute the right to determine the origin of a monument in the sovereign territory of another country? Answer this question, gentlemen! Are you not tired of false history, the disease of national exceptionalism, and enmity?"
Civil society representatives also commented on the reappearance of representatives of the former self-proclaimed regime, which announced its dissolution in September 2023, and their sending letters to various diplomatic missions and international organizations.
"Armenia's attempts to interfere in our country's internal affairs, which made ethnic hatred against the Azerbaijani people a state policy, kept Karabakh and Eastern Zangezur under occupation for 30 years, committed the Khojaly genocide, and destroyed our historical and cultural heritage, are unacceptable!" the statement said.
The statement emphasized that the plundered and falsified cultural and religious heritage of the Azerbaijani people in the territory of Armenia has not been forgotten either.
"We have not forgotten the destruction of the Sardar Palace, our cemeteries, the desecration of Dede Alasgar's grave, and the distortion of the Blue Mosque!" the document noted.
Representatives of Azerbaijani civil society called on the Armenian government to remain committed to the peace agenda with Azerbaijan, to "end hysteria and enmity," and to hold accountable individuals and organizations promoting irredentist ideas against Azerbaijan.
At the end of the statement, representatives of Azerbaijani civil society expressed their confidence that the Azerbaijani state will resolutely prevent such actions by Armenia and its patrons targeting the country.
