US President Donald Trump will meet with his national security team this week to discuss military operations against Iran.

Modern.az reports that, according to "Axios", these plans came to the fore against the background of the failure of diplomatic efforts.

According to American officials, Trump wants to reach an agreement that will stop the war. However, Iran's rejection of many of his demands and Tehran's unwillingness to make serious concessions on its nuclear program have brought the military option back to the agenda.

"Trump is expected to gather his core national security team in the Situation Room on Tuesday to discuss military options," two American officials told Axios.

Another source said that on Saturday, Trump held a meeting with members of his national security team at his golf club in Virginia to discuss the Iran issue.

Vice President JD Vance, special envoy Steve Witkoff, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and CIA Director John Ratcliffe attended the meeting.

In addition, "Axios" writes that on Sunday, Trump also had a phone conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. This conversation was also about the situation around Iran.

According to the information, if Trump decides to resume military operations against the Islamic Republic, the Pentagon has prepared several strike plans. The list of targets includes Iran's energy facilities and infrastructure.
