"Opportunities for dialogue between Europe and Russia are gradually opening up towards resolving the Ukrainian crisis. Therefore, there is a need to create an effective format that the parties will consider legitimate."
Modern.az reports that an official from the German government informed "Reuters" about this.
According to the source, the "European trio" including Germany, France, and Great Britain is expected to play a leading role in this process.
Until now, the US set the main tone in peace talks, while Europe remained outside the process. However, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio recently admitted that the talks had reached a dead end, stating, "If someone else wants to deal with this, let them." The German official emphasizes that Europe should be guided by the principle of coordinated action with the US in the peace process, not competition.
The government official also added that it is important to fully coordinate positions with Ukraine during the dialogue. Based on the current situation on the front, these talks could take months, not weeks.
