Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan stated that the process of normalization of Armenia-Turkey relations is ongoing and new progress in this direction is possible in the near future.
Modern.az reports that Mirzoyan spoke about this during the discussion of the annual report on the implementation of the 2025 state budget at a joint meeting of the parliament's standing committees.
Touching upon the Armenia-Turkey dialogue and the work done recently, the minister stated that meetings of the working group established to restore the operation of the Gyumri-Kars railway have been held and a number of meetings have taken place between the parties.
“Our dialogue with Turkey continues. Meetings of the working group established to restart the Gyumri-Kars railway have been held, and other meetings have also taken place,” Mirzoyan said.
According to him, tangible results can be achieved in the direction of normalization of relations in the near future.
“I expect and believe that in the near future we will achieve significant progress in terms of full normalization of relations with Turkey,” the Armenian Foreign Minister emphasized.
Mirzoyan also expressed his belief that the process will reach its logical conclusion and noted that full settlement is possible.
The minister added that there are already direct trade relations between Armenia and Turkey.
“Although this does not relate to the reporting period, I want to note that there is currently direct trade between Armenia and Turkey. From a customs point of view, this is direct trade, although geographically it is still carried out through third countries,” Mirzoyan said.
