When the memorandum of understanding between Iran and the US is signed, the officials representing the parties will be Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf and US Vice President J.D. Vance.
Modern.az reports that Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Majid Takht Ravanchi told journalists on June 16.
Referring to Tuesday's meeting of Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi with ambassadors and heads of foreign missions in Tehran, Majid Takht Ravanchi said that the meeting provided an opportunity to explain the content of the Memorandum of Understanding between Iran and the US.
According to him, discussions at the meeting covered provisions related to ending the war and occupation in Lebanon, reconstruction efforts, and compensation for damages. He also stated that the memorandum covers the issue of Iran's frozen assets; Tehran considers these assets illegally blocked and demands their unblocking.
According to the Deputy Foreign Minister, the agreement also contains provisions regarding the Strait of Hormuz and the lifting of the blockade, adding that the easing of restrictions has been one of Iran's long-standing demands.
He noted that Switzerland would host the signing ceremony, although the exact location and format of the signing, including whether it will be done electronically, have not yet been clarified.
Takht Ravanchi added that a new phase of negotiations would begin immediately after the memorandum is signed.
He stated that one of the provisions of the agreement requires the cessation of military operations on all fronts, including Lebanon, and that the US has committed to ensuring the cessation of military operations.
