US Vice President J.D. Vance believes that Washington and Tehran have reached an agreement on keeping the Strait of Hormuz open.
Modern.az reports that TASS agency disseminated this information.
"We have created a mechanism that will not only ensure that the Strait of Hormuz remains open, but also that it will remain open in the future," J.D. Vance told reporters after talks with the Iranian delegation in Bürgenstock, Switzerland.
The Vice President noted that approximately 15 million barrels of oil are transported daily through the Strait of Hormuz. In his opinion, this factor will affect the decline in prices of energy carriers in world markets.
"Secondly, we have formed the right mechanism to ensure a regional ceasefire and to keep potential conflicts under control. We are working closely with all our partners, from the Israelis to our Arab allies in the Persian Gulf countries, to maintain the ceasefire. We are quite optimistic about the current situation," Vance emphasized.
It should be recalled that on June 21, talks were held between US and Iranian representatives in Bürgenstock, Switzerland, mediated by Qatar and Pakistan.
