The US has completely lifted the naval blockade on Iran.

Modern.az reports with reference to foreign media that this was stated by Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, head of Iran's negotiating team in dialogue with the US and speaker of the country's parliament.

Previously, the US Central Command of the Armed Forces stated that American forces, at the direction of President Donald Trump, had lifted the naval blockade imposed on Iran's ports and coastal areas.

"Yes... you saw that Trump made an announcement about it, even before 30 days had passed (as stipulated in the memorandum - ed.)," Qalibaf said when asked on Iranian television whether the US had completely lifted the naval blockade.

He emphasized that currently, passage is free for Iranian merchant ships and oil tankers.

According to Qalibaf, after the lifting of the naval blockade, Iran managed to export more than 40 million barrels of oil.

It should be recalled that Iran and the US signed a remote memorandum on the night of June 18. The purpose of the document is to stop the military confrontation that began on February 28. The memorandum also set deadlines for when the US would lift the naval blockade and Iran would resume shipping in the Strait of Hormuz.

On June 21, technical talks were held between Iran and the US in Bürgenstock, Switzerland, mediated by Qatar and Pakistan. Progress was reported in the talks.
