Russia may attempt to increase pressure on Donetsk region and intensify offensive operations in the Donbas direction in the summer months.
Modern.az reports that Austrian military expert Markus Reisner stated this.
According to him, Moscow is currently focused on the central part of the Eastern front, while also increasing pressure on Ukrainian positions in the Kharkiv, Sumy, and Zaporizhzhia directions. The expert believes that the goal is to force Ukraine to divert additional forces to the northern direction and then create favorable conditions for an offensive in Donbas.
British expert on Russia, Keir Giles, took a more cautious stance. According to him, there is currently no reliable information about a large-scale Russian summer offensive. He stated that the Kremlin's main goal is not only to gain territory but also to weaken Ukraine's resilience.
“The exact position of the front line is not decisive for the outcome of the war. More important are diplomatic, economic, and political factors,” Giles said in a statement to "BILD".
Ukraine, on the other hand, is preparing for the summer by strengthening its defense lines and increasing strikes on the Russian rear. According to Ukrainian Colonel Volodymyr Polevoy, Kyiv has already strengthened its long-range attack capabilities and is trying to disrupt the logistics of the Russian army.
It should be noted that in recent weeks, Ukraine has been striking Russian oil refineries, fuel depots, and industrial facilities almost daily, putting pressure on the army's supply and military economy.
