The world's oceans have experienced the hottest June in recorded history.

Modern.az reports that, according to AFP, the average sea surface temperature in June was 20.98 °C. This indicator also updated the records recorded in 2023 and 2024.

Experts link this trend to the effects of climate change and the natural climate phenomenon "El Niño". It is reported that high temperature indicators are not excluded to continue in the coming months.

"El Niño" is a natural climate phenomenon characterized by above-normal warming of surface waters in the equatorial and central Pacific Ocean. This process usually occurs every 2-7 years, lasts 9-12 months, and as a result seriously affects weather conditions in various regions of the world.
