Since the beginning of this year, the area of territories affected by natural fires in France has reached approximately 40 thousand hectares.
Modern.az reports that this was stated by the French Minister of Internal Affairs Laurent Nuñez on the air of "France Inter" radio.
"The area of forest and vegetation destroyed by fire is slightly less than 40 thousand hectares. This is significantly more than last year, as well as the same period in 2022, which was already considered exceptional," the minister emphasized.
On July 20, France's national meteorological service Meteo-France announced a high risk of forest fires in 27 departments of the country, and introduced the orange level of weather danger, the second highest, due to strong heat in 6 departments.
