A court in Damascus has sentenced Wassim al-Assad, cousin of overthrown Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, to death.

The court found Wassim al-Assad guilty of “premeditated murder and torture, which are considered crimes against humanity and war crimes.”
According to the court's decision, the investigation determined that Wassim al-Assad participated in the creation of illegal armed groups that carried out attacks on settlements and committed mass murders.
It should be noted that on August 11, the Damascus court also sentenced Bashar al-Assad and several former officials to death.
They were found guilty of a number of serious crimes, including premeditated murder, torture, illegal detentions, and crimes against humanity.
