Turkey's negotiations to sell the S-400 anti-aircraft missile systems it purchased from Russia to the United Arab Emirates have reached a dead end.

Modern.az reports that the US publication "Semafor" published information about this.

According to the information, the inconclusive negotiations also prevent Turkey from purchasing F-35 fighters from the US. American senators, who demand the abandonment of S-400s, do not compromise on this issue with Ankara.

If Turkey cannot sell the S-400s to the UAE or disable them, it is reported that a more radical option - the destruction of the complexes - is ahead.

A US official told "Semafor" that there are several options to solve the problem and that Turkey is interested in resolving the issue.

Information that Ankara had asked Russia for permission to sell the S-400s to the UAE was spread in July. However, according to sources familiar with the negotiations, the process later stopped.

It is not precisely known why the negotiations reached a dead end. One possible reason is that the UAE also wants to buy US-made F-35 fighters. For this reason, it is reported that Abu Dhabi does not want to have problems with Russian-made weapon systems.

US Senator Chris Coons said that any country that acquires and deploys the S-400 system will face the same concerns, problems, and restrictions that Turkey has faced.
