Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has approved a decision to impose sanctions against the creators of the animated series "Masha and the Bear".
Modern.az reports that sanctions have been imposed against Russia's Animakkord studio, which produces the series, and five Russian citizens. Among them are the founder and CEO of the studio, as well as the scriptwriter, co-author and producer of the series, as well as the copyright holder of the animated film.
The Ukrainian National Council for Television and Radio Broadcasting stated that "Masha and the Bear" spreads narratives that serve Russia's interests under the guise of content intended for children. According to the agency, this content poses a threat to Ukraine's national security.
It should be noted that dissatisfaction with the animated series "Masha and the Bear" is not limited to Ukraine.
In July, a group of politicians in Great Britain sent an open letter to the country's culture minister demanding the removal of the series from streaming platforms.
British politicians claimed that the series spread Russian propaganda and stated that it was a "not so subtle" propaganda method.
