In recent days, windy, rainy, and cold weather conditions have been observed in the capital and regions. The autumn-winter season of 2025-2026 has ended, with the exception of the mountainous regions of the republic, and heat supply to residential buildings and social facilities was stopped on April 15.
It is interesting, is it planned to resume heating in the current cold weather conditions?
Modern.az sent an inquiry to “Azeristiliktechizat” OJSC to obtain information on this matter.
In response to our inquiry, the institution stated that the heating season is carried out in accordance with the “Rules for the Use of Thermal Energy” approved by the Cabinet of Ministers on September 5, 2023.
"We inform you that, according to the mentioned rules, the heating season in the territory of the republic, with the exception of mountainous and foothill regions, ends on April 15 each year. In practice, there have also been cases where the season was extended for a short period in cases where severe cold and frosty weather conditions were observed. For example, last year the heating season was extended by a few days."
It was stated that, since the currently observed weather conditions are not severely cold and frosty, the heating season this year was concluded on April 15 in accordance with the established rules:
"Within this framework, the supply of heat to all social and economic facilities, as well as to the household consumer group, was carried out based on unified rules. Regarding the possibility of restoring heating locally based on citizens' requests, we note that currently - on April 29 - the heating season has already ended and no such request has been received by the department. Also, no requests have been registered regarding the extension or early start of the season.
We emphasize once again that the issue of extending or starting the heating season earlier can only be considered in cases where severely cold and frosty weather conditions are observed," the official statement stressed.
For information, the start of the heating season coincides with November 15. In mountainous and foothill regions - Dashkasan, Gadabay, Khachmaz, Kalbajar, Gabala, Guba, Gusar, Lachin, Lerik, Shamakhi, Siyazan, Shabran, Shusha, and Yardimli regions - heating starts earlier and ends later.
