Discussions have begun on the establishment of a new international organization, the Union of Parliamentary Journalists of Turkic States, which will unite parliamentary journalists of Turkic states on a single platform.

Modern.az reports that Elshad Eyvazlı, chairman of the Azerbaijani Parliamentary Journalists Union, provided information about this.

According to him, a meeting has already been held with the leadership of the Parliamentary Correspondents Association in Turkey regarding the issue, and the prospects for the establishment of the organization have been widely discussed.

Elshad Eyvazlı stated that the issue was also brought up for discussion among the members of the Azerbaijani Parliamentary Journalists Union, and the opinions and suggestions of journalists were studied:

“Parliamentary journalists are accepted all over the world as the most agile media representatives, informed about all processes, and conveying what is happening to societies most accurately. Therefore, we are fully confident that our work will be successful from the outset. We have submitted our initial proposals to our Turkish colleagues regarding the status, registration, areas of activity, goals, and structure of the Union. They will also prepare and discuss their proposals. Our next general meeting will be held in the near future.”

According to the chairman of the Union, the organization will be formed in the initial stage with the participation of parliamentary journalists from Turkey and Azerbaijan. In the next stage, parliamentary journalists from other member countries of the Organization of Turkic States are planned to join the organization.

Eyvazlı noted that a visit to Central Asian countries is planned for next month. Within the framework of the visit, meetings will be held with parliamentary journalists of fraternal countries, and discussions on the establishment of the new organization will continue.

In his opinion, the new union can become an important cooperation platform in the field of parliamentary journalism in the Turkic world: “This organization will be an international and strong journalistic community. One of the main advantages is that parliamentary journalists' unions are already operating in many Turkic states. The newly established p will ensure coordination and cooperation among these organizations.”

Elshad Eyvazlı stated that the main goal of the initiative is to strengthen professional relations among parliamentary journalists in the Turkic states, create a common information network, and further develop media cooperation.

He emphasized that in the modern era, information security, public diplomacy, and international communication have become one of the main strategic priorities of states. In this regard, organizing operative, professional, and objective information about parliamentary activities is of particular importance.

Within the framework of the new union, international forums, trainings, seminars, and media academies are planned for parliamentary journalists. At the same time, the creation of common media mechanisms against disinformation will also be one of the main directions.

According to the project, the establishment of “Turkic World Parliamentary Media Awards” and “Turkic World Parliamentary Awards” is also planned for the future.

The creation of such a platform will accelerate information integration among Turkic states, strengthen parliamentary diplomacy, and make a significant contribution to the stronger representation of the Turkic world in the international media space.
