Armenia is simultaneously trying to become a member of the European Union, while on the other hand, it is using the opportunities and advantages of the Eurasian Economic Union.
Modern.az reports that the chairman of the Russian State Duma, in a statement to local media, called this approach "cynical and wrong" and suggested that the Armenian authorities clearly state their choice.
"I would like Armenia not to pursue a false policy. If you are going to the European Union, go. But then you will not get concessions here," Volodin said.
He criticized Armenia for both pursuing a course of integration into the European Union and taking advantage of the opportunities offered by the EAEU, emphasizing that Yerevan must make a choice.
It should be noted that the Armenian parliament adopted a law in March 2025 on the start of the country's European Union membership process. The Armenian authorities, however, stated that the final decision on EU membership will be made through a referendum.
