In Armenia, the court made a decision regarding former high-ranking officials - Seyran Ohanyan, Armen Gevorgyan and Yuri Khachaturyan - who participated in military operations against Azerbaijan in Karabakh.
Modern.az reports that the court did not grant the prosecutor's request to ban their exit from the country. The state prosecutor asked the court to apply this preventive measure against the mentioned persons.
The prosecutor justified this with a possible risk of escape. The defense, on the other hand, stated that the motion was unfounded. Seyran Ohanyan also spoke in court and said that they had no intention of fleeing the country. He stated that if they had no intention of not returning to Armenia, they could have used such opportunities by now.
The former Armenian defense minister emphasized that the proposed preventive measure was unfounded.
It should be noted that Seyran Ohanyan, Armen Gevorgyan and Yuri Khachaturyan are representatives of the political and military elite of Armenia who held high positions for many years. Their names have been on the agenda at various times in connection with both Armenia's internal political processes and the Karabakh conflict.
Seyran Ohanyan served as Armenia's Minister of Defense for a long time. He served in the Armenian armed forces during the First Karabakh War and held high positions in the leadership of the Armenian army in subsequent years.
Yuri Khachaturyan also held high positions in the leadership of the Armenian Armed Forces and was the Chief of the General Staff of the country. Armen Gevorgyan is a political figure who held high positions in various state structures of Armenia.
All three of them were involved in the investigation within the framework of the criminal case opened against ex-president Robert Kocharyan.
