It is reported that flights in the Tehran-Yerevan direction continue even after the US tightened sanctions against Iran's aviation sector.
Modern.az reports that Iranian media, citing Ramin Kashef Azar, the general director of Tehran Imam Khomeini International Airport, wrote that Iranian airlines operate flights to Armenia, Russia, China, and Turkey.
The information sent notes that two flights from Tehran are scheduled to arrive today at Yerevan's "Zvartnots" airport's online schedule. Separate confirmation of the actual landing of the flights has not been obtained.
On September 8, the US Treasury Department announced that it had imposed sanctions on 36 targets related to Iran's aviation sector. Washington warns that foreign entities providing services to sanctioned airlines may also face restrictions.
