Discussions continue between Azerbaijan and Armenia on advancing the peace agenda and restoring regional communications in the post-conflict period. However, the state of affairs after the parliamentary elections in Armenia is of interest.

Political scientist Farhad Mammadov, curator of the "Peace Bridge" Initiative, gave a statement to Modern.az regarding the current stage and future prospects of the process.

He stated that there is dynamism in the peace agenda process:

“The peace agenda between Armenia and Azerbaijan remains as it was. After the parliamentary elections in Armenia, a meeting was held between Assistant to the President Hikmet Hajiyev and the Secretary of Armenia's Security Council. As a result, both sides expressed their commitment to the peace agenda. It was after this meeting that an agreement was reached on connecting the main part of Azerbaijan to Nakhchivan with internet. This is an indication that, even if small, the implementation of infrastructure projects is also among the issues being resolved. This shows that there is dynamism in the process. Both sides are interested in the development of the processes.”

F. Mammadov said that the development of relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia with third countries and parties within the framework of peacebuilding is being observed:

“Currently, the new composition of the parliament in Armenia is being determined, and legal procedures are being carried out. In approximately 2 months, we will see the new composition of the parliament and the new government in Armenia. Then we can observe and evaluate what steps the Armenian leadership takes regarding the referendum. In other directions, the processes are proceeding as usual. We observe the development of relations in both bilateral relations and between Azerbaijan and Armenia with third countries in the direction of peacebuilding. We will see this in the near future within the framework of the visit of the President of the European Union Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, to Azerbaijan.”
