Georgian Tbilisi State University and Technical University are being merged.
Modern.az reports that, within the framework of higher education reform, the Georgian government has decided to merge Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University (TSU) and Georgian Technical University (GTU) into a single educational institution.
Although the authorities explain this step by the necessity to combine resources and increase the competitiveness of Georgian science at an international level, this initiative has already sparked heated discussions in academic circles.
