Due to the severe consequences of floods caused by intensive rains in Dagestan and Chechnya, the state of emergency regime has been elevated from regional to federal level.

Modern.az reports, citing Russian media, that this was stated by Aleksandr Kurenkov, head of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES), at a meeting of the government commission.

He arrived in Dagestan to coordinate the elimination of the consequences of the natural disaster. According to Sergey Melikov, head of the republic, more than 6.2 thousand people have been affected by the flood in Dagestan.

A. Kurenkov reminded that, in accordance with the decision of Russian President Vladimir Putin, a separate government commission for the elimination of flood consequences has been formed by the government under his leadership. Its composition includes the heads of federal executive authorities and the heads of the affected regions.

"Further work on eliminating the consequences of the emergency will be organized within the framework of the aforementioned commission," the minister said.
