Israel has appointed an ambassador to Somaliland, which is not recognized by the international community.
According to Modern.az, diplomat Michel Lotem became the first ambassador appointed to Somaliland.
It should be recalled that after the civil war in Somalia, Somaliland separated from this country and declared its independence. Only Israel recognizes this region as an independent state. The decision was made on December 26, 2025, and Israel officially recognized the Republic of Somaliland.
