A bear attacked a tourist camp in Russia's Altai Republic. The predator dragged a 29-year-old woman out of her tent, took her to the forest, and killed her.
Modern.az reports that the incident occurred on the night of August 19 at the "Istok" tourist base in Artybash village.
According to information, the tourists set up tents on the bank of the Biya River and spent the night. Around 1 AM, a bear suddenly attacked the tent, destroyed it, and dragged 29-year-old Snezhanna K. outside.
The predator took the woman to the forest. There, it attacked her, inflicting fatal injuries. Other tourists and local residents at the scene tried to scare the bear away, but the animal also attacked them.
Rescuers, hunters, and police officers were also called to the scene. Shots were fired into the air to scare the bear away, but this did not stop the predator.
Another tragic detail of the incident is that the woman had received a marriage proposal from her boyfriend shortly before the incident. The couple was vacationing in Altai.
In recent days, numerous cases of bears entering settlements and tourist areas have been recorded in the Turochak district of Altai. Security measures have been strengthened in the region.
