At least 3375 people have died in Iran during the war waged by US-Israeli coalition forces over the past 40 days.
Modern.az reports that Abbas Masjedi, head of Iran's Legal Medicine Organization, said this on Monday. He stated that the war, which began on February 28, was marked by both difficulties and moments of solidarity.
According to A. Masjedi, the death of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei and several commanders was one of the most bitter events that deeply affected the Iranian people.
He added that the casualties included innocent civilians, children, the elderly, and those working in the public sector.
A. Masjedi described the bombing of an elementary school in Minab, a city in the south of the country, as a heartbreaking event, stating that more than 160 children were killed by the US and Israel.
According to him, approximately 40% of the bodies were unrecognizable in the initial stages.
However, A. Masjedi added that forensic teams operating across the country, especially in Tehran, Isfahan, and Hormozgan provinces, made great efforts to identify the bodies and hand them over to their families.
Masjedi said that the total number of deceased includes 2875 men and 496 women, while the identities of 4 bodies have not yet been determined due to the severity and type of injuries.
He added that by age distribution, 7 people under 1 year old, 255 people between 1 and 12 years old, 121 people between 13 and 18 years old, 969 people between 19 and 30 years old, 792 people between 31 and 40 years old, 639 people between 41 and 50 years old, 267 people between 51 and 60 years old, 163 people between 61 and 70 years old, and 60 people over 71 years old have died.
According to Masjedi, the highest number of casualties was recorded in Tehran, Hormozgan, and Isfahan provinces.
