The US Department of Justice has announced that federal executions have resumed and that firing squads may be used to carry out sentences.
Modern.az reports that the agency has already approved motions for the execution of death sentences in 44 cases and plans to expand this practice.
According to the Ministry, the previous administration failed to fulfill its duty to protect the American people by not executing the death penalty for the most dangerous criminals.
“The Department of Justice is once again upholding the rule of law and supporting victims,” said Todd Blanche, acting US Attorney General.
In addition, in the coming weeks, it is planned to limit the ability of prisoners to apply for clemency until all court procedures are completed.
