Iran is implementing new rules for ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz.
Modern.az reports that Iran has warned that strict measures could be taken against ships transiting through the Strait of Hormuz that do not comply with the rules set by Tehran.
According to information released by the Strait Affairs Office in the Gulf, which Iran created to control the strategic route, ship owners who violate the rules may face fines, detention, and even confiscation of the ship. The agency has advised ship owners to familiarize themselves with the updated list of vessels that do not meet the requirements for Gulf-related voyages.
It is reported that if one of the ships does not meet the specified requirements, other ships involved in cargo transfer operations from one ship to another may also be included in the list.
Ship owners whose vessels are blacklisted for not complying with Iranian rules can send a reasoned appeal to the country's maritime authorities to have those vessels removed from the list.
