A deputy of the Russian State Duma has announced a specific date for the end of the war in Ukraine.
Modern.az reports that Lieutenant General Viktor Sobolev, a member of the Russian State Duma's Defense Committee, stated that the "special military operation" should be completed by 2030.
According to him, Moscow should not only cease military operations by that date but also achieve "absolute victory."
Sobolev claimed that otherwise, Russia could face a coalition of NATO countries prepared for war.
According to the deputy, Poland, Germany, France, the Baltic states, and other NATO members are seriously preparing for a possible confrontation with Russia. He claimed that the campaign in the West regarding the "Russian threat" is not only informational but also backed by real military preparation. Sobolev believes that for this reason, delaying the end of the war in Ukraine is not in Russia's interests.
The deputy also stated that after victory in Ukraine, large-scale changes should be made in the Russian Armed Forces. In his opinion, the army should be ready to prevent possible aggression from any direction and under any circumstances.
Sobolev emphasized that this requires not just a partial modernization of the army, but a fundamental military transformation in line with new threats.
