German billionaire, businessman and one of the prominent figures in the logistics sector, Klaus-Michael Kühne, has died at the age of 89.
Modern.az reports that German media released this information, citing his family.
According to the information, Kühne went to the village of Schindellegi in Switzerland approximately 10 days before his death. During this period, his health deteriorated and he was under medical supervision. The businessman passed away on Monday night.
Klaus-Michael Kühne was the main shareholder of Kühne + Nagel, one of the world's largest logistics companies. He transformed the family business into a global logistics giant and led the company for many years.
Kühne also held significant stakes in major companies such as Lufthansa, Hapag-Lloyd, Brenntag, and Flix. Forbes estimated his fortune at over $44 billion.
Jörg Wolle, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Kühne + Nagel, commented on his death, calling Kühne a “visionary, great entrepreneur and influential personality.”
