Iran attempted to assassinate one of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's sons.
Modern.az reports that he spoke about this in a phone interview with "Channel 14" television. He stated that Iran targeted one of his sons and tried to kill him.
"Iran targeted one of my sons. Iran attempted to kill one of my sons," Netanyahu said.
The head of the Israeli government did not specify which of his sons was targeted. Information about when and by what method the assassination attempt was made was also not provided.
Netanyahu made this statement during a discussion in Israel about the security of prime ministerial candidates. He stated that he spoke with the head of Israel's Internal Security Service - Shin Bet - and requested that prime ministerial candidates be adequately protected.
The Prime Minister emphasized that the security provided to his family is "not a luxury" and said that if security measures were weakened, Iran could succeed in such attempts.
Netanyahu has three children - daughter Noa and sons Yair and Avner. According to Israeli media, a decision has also been made to provide security protection to his sons. Yair and Avner's protection is expected to continue for a certain period even after Netanyahu leaves office.
It should be noted that this is not the first such claim regarding a possible assassination plot against Netanyahu's family by Iran. In October 2024, Netanyahu's residence in Caesarea was attacked by a drone, and the Israeli Prime Minister described the incident as an assassination attempt against himself and his family.
