Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, stating that economic difficulties are expected in the country in the near future, called on citizens to switch to a total savings regime.

Modern.az reports with reference to foreign media that Modi stated that global economic instability and the crisis in the energy market have also seriously affected India.

“Patriotism is not only giving your life for the country, but also leading a disciplined lifestyle in difficult times,” emphasized the head of the Indian government.

The Prime Minister recommended giving preference to the use of public transport wherever possible, especially making more use of metro and rail transport. He also noted the importance of switching to electric vehicles to reduce fuel consumption and announced that he would also use the metro.

Modi called on citizens to refuse recreation in foreign countries and to give preference to domestic tourism. In addition, he stated that the purchase of locally produced products would both create new jobs and reduce dependence on imports.

The Prime Minister called on the population to reduce the use of vegetable oil, and farmers to halve the use of fertilizers.

Modi also recommended not buying gold this year, except in necessary cases. According to him, this step can help protect the country's foreign exchange reserves. In India, gold is considered a traditional gift, especially at wedding ceremonies.

The head of the Indian government also emphasized the importance of switching to a work-from-home model as much as possible, as during the pandemic.

According to the information, Modi's calls are related to the sharp increase in world energy prices as a result of military operations by the US and Israel against Iran, as well as the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz.

Currently, fuel prices are rising rapidly in India. According to "The Hindu" publication, the country's crude oil reserves can meet the demand for only 25 days.

It should be noted that India is the third largest oil consumer in the world. With a population of approximately 1.45 billion, the country accounts for nearly one-fifth of the world's population.
