Russian Presidential Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov spoke about how he started learning Turkish while studying at the institute.
Modern.az reports that he spoke about this in an interview with Russia's "First Channel".
According to him, successfully passing the distribution tests allowed students to choose the languages they wanted to learn:
"Even the second time, I did not score the necessary amount of points to get the right to choose the language myself. I wanted to learn Arabic. Due to low results, they forcibly gave me Turkish as a punishment. But after only a few years of dealing with Turkish and Turkology as a whole, I actually realized that this was very good."
It should be noted that Dmitry Peskov graduated from the Institute of Asian and African Countries at Moscow State University in 1989 and was immediately hired by the USSR Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
